Have you ever prepared so well for an examination as an undergraduate with so much confidence, hoping to ace that particular course, only to discover after the result was released that you failed? Failure is one thing an undergraduate would never want to experience. The earlier we realise that failure and disappointment is a side package in achieving greater heights, the better for us. The lens at which we view failure determines how we will deal with it.

Keeping your heads high even after failing, retaining your confidence even in the midst of a setback, are some ways you can deal with failure. How poorly your grades are, is not a yardstick to measure how successful you will become. Self-evaluation is an efficient tool in managing failure: What did I do wrong? How do I improve? What is the lesson for me in this situation?

Failure is not a time to judge your innate ability because you didnt get it right for the longest time. You have tried, does not mean you will never get it right; even great men fail. Oprah Winfrey, Walt Disney, Micheal Jordan all failed at some point in their life but they did fulfil their dreams and aspirations. That's why you could possibly hear about them today. Rather than viewing failure as a misfortune, try to see it as an opportunity to begin again and this time, more intelligently. Never see failure as defeat, it's just a delay that will help you grow.

As much as failure is a driving force to success, never settle for less. Be diligent in whatever you do, aim to be the best, nothing can stop you, not even failure.
