It is often assumed that the longer you stay in the institution the wiser you will become and more experienced, unlike the freshmen. A professor who was once a student and now a lecturer has a lot of valuable information and insight accumulated as a result of years of experience. The pressure posed on a freshman would differ from that of an old student. But what is it with these grey hairs?
Figuratively, grey hair is often synonymous with wisdom. It is a common identity of the aged which displays years of experience, trials and error, success and failure. With time they've mastered the art of living with a deeper understanding of the world; relationships, career and personal growth.
However, it is advised, as an undergraduate, that you surround yourself with people of experience, draw close to learn how they were able to scale through, ask questions, when necessary, be able to listen and learn from their mistakes, as well as leverage best practices. It could be from a senior colleague, mentor, that outstanding student, or an older citizen. Just ensure that in whatever happens, you don't let the wisdom of the grey around you go to waste.
In conclusion, there may be some truth that grey hairs show a certain depth of understanding, commands a different level of respect and culturally, a wealth of life experiences. It is important to note that it is not restricted to age. Wisdom can be expressed at any age. Seek knowledge and answers where necessary, despite age, level or affluence; and learn to give out to others, from your accrued wisdom. What accredits wisdom is experience and knowledge.
